Station 1: Jesus is condemned to die.
Jesus, as you stand bloodied and bruised before your executioner, Pilate, how did you feel when he shouted, “GUILTY!” It meant you would be condemned to as awful death. Did you drop your head? Wince? Did tears come to your eyes and roll down your face? You would be humiliated. You were hated by many of your own people. You were deserted by your friends. But you were guilty of nothing. Nothing but love.
I wonder if you still wished that your Father would “remove this cup,“ send those angels to deliver you from this terrible fate. That’s what I would have done! Beg for deliverance. But then, unlike you, I AM guilty- of many things. And I will one day stand before you in judgment, Lord, so naturally I, like many before me, earnestly pray for you to send Someone to deliver me from MY awful fate!
And you did. There He stands. Pronounced guilty when he’s the most innocent person who ever lived. And here I stand, full of guilt, but forgiven by His grace. He was condemned to die so that I can continue to live- eternally with Him!! Thank You, Most Holy God!!
